Booking a business hotel in Makati comes with one main problem: expensive rooms. That’s why alternatives like The Sphere Serviced Residences are usually a cheaper option because they’re near prime establishments in the Ayala Business District.
This predicament with hotel rates was something I had to worry about when traveling to Metro Manila every month to meet with our investors. Coming down from Baguio isn’t an easy trip, let alone finding a decent hotel that was within walking distance from our meeting place.
As luck would have it, a friend of mine recommended this particular hotel since it met my requirements. That and they also had impressive discounts for those who book rooms directly from their official website.
It was lucky that the meetings I had were scheduled for the evening, this meant that I had enough time to get to the hotel in the afternoon, settle in and get a few hours of sleep.
For a basic studio room, it was quite spacious at 32 sqm. It even had space for its own kitchen and dining table. This meant that I could even bring in my own food to heat up later in the microwave if I wanted.
It was also lucky I got a room with a queen-sized bed. That way, I could enjoy sleeping on a huge mattress after that long trip.
I immediately took a nap after unpacking, after all, the bus ride from Baguio to Manila and the cab ride from the station to the hotel took a lot out of me.
Before heading to the meeting, I decided to get some coffee from the Starbucks located at the apartment’s ground floor. It was convenient that they had an outlet here so that I wouldn’t have to worry about breakfast tomorrow.
Looking back, it was a good idea to book this hotel since it was close to the Ayala Triangle and the offices in its area. Walking from Valero to Paseo only took a few minutes and I arrived with time to spare. Perhaps next time I visit Manila, I’d actually invite my colleagues to use the hotel’s meeting room instead.
The next day after the meeting, I had a lot of time for myself before catching the bus to Baguio. I took this chance to enjoy the hotel’s lap pool on the terrace overlooking the street, and the Starbucks at the ground level.
Overall, this stay was quite comfortable. I didn’t expect to see a Starbucks in a hotel, but that was a bonus considering that my accommodation was just a walk away from the office I was supposed to visit.
